The regular monthly meettngof the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held at <br /> <br /> 9:30 A.M., January 2, 1968, withthe following members present: <br /> Chairman - C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners -Ranktn, Hawfteld, Beasley, and Petrea. <br /> <br />Chairman James called meeting to order. Prayer was by the Reverend A. J. Eure. <br /> <br />Minutes were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Pebrea made motion, secondedby Hawfteld, to accept the followtng~road <br />petitions: <br /> <br /> T-11 Rockland Circle - Road No.13?? - Request for surface treatment <br /> T-~ Suburban Ave. of (Hoover St.) - Request for addition <br /> T-11 Connecting link between rural <br /> roads 26~0 and 2641 <br /> Request for addition <br /> <br /> Ranktn made motion, seconded by Hawfteld, to approve Attorney C.M. Llewellyn <br />as Judge of Domestic Relations Court to fill unexpired term of Clarence E. Horton, <br />Jr., who resigned December ~1, 1967. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Hugh Price, S6~1 Conservationist, appeared before commissioners in support <br /> <br /> of development of a Countywide Comprehensive Plan and a Countywide soil survey. <br />:The plans could be used in zoning for urban development, in development of a <br />county'~ater system, tn development of a countywide sewer plan. Mr. Price explain- <br />ed that there are federal funds available for such surveys but that the County <br />would be expected to pay a portion of the cost. Commissioners said they would <br />consider the matter. <br /> <br /> County Mana..qer Hurt presented a letter to the Board concerning a new plan <br />proposed by the State Welfare Board for handlinq welfare recipient checks. The <br />checks are now drawn on local banks but under the proposed plan, all welfare checks <br />would be drawn on a Ralet0h bank. Local Funds will still be deposited and handled <br />through the local banks. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion, seconded by Ranktn to accept the resignation of C. M. <br /> Lewellyn as one of the County Attorney. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Ranktn made motion, seconded by Petrea, to accept James C. Johnson, Jr. and <br /> James C. Davis as County Attorneys. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> A complaint concerning C&M Ambulance Service was discussed in which there was <br /> <br /> a question about the rates. Commissioners instructed County Manager Hurt to <br /> contact C&M Ambulance officials and have copy of rates sent to him and also that <br /> the rates be published in the paper. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned.
