The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was <br /> <br /> at 9:_~0 A.M. 'on November /4, 1968, with the following members, present: <br /> Chairman: C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: C, McNeil Petrea, S. Glenn Hawfleld, Jr. <br /> <br /> Dr. R.B. Rankin, Jr., and F.J. Beasley, Jr. <br /> <br /> Chairman James called the meeting to order. Prayer was by Father Edward J. Beatty <br /> Minutes were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Rankin reported that a tentative agreement on the use by the <br /> <br /> County of the City of Concord landfill was reached, wherein the terms included the <br /> County paying the City of Concord $500.00 per month plus ~JS~ of all revenues <br /> collected from private garbage collectors using the facilities. Also 10fro of such <br /> revenues would be paid to Mr. L. D. Kiker, leaving the County 5~ of such revenues. <br /> After discussion, Rankin made motion, seconded by Hawfield to accept the proposal <br /> on the part of the County. Vote carried <br /> <br /> Mr. E. Kent Prewltt and Mr. Eugene C. Cook of the Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br />Aviation Committee discussed the proposed airport, requested that a bond referendu~ <br />be held, and that the following persons serve on the County;Air-port Committee: <br /> <br />R. P. (Short) Arthur, Dr. J.O. Williams, Buddy Hilbish, Robert l~ogle, E.B. Orady, J., <br />M.W. Nixon, Sinclair Williams, Eugene Cook, Clyde Propst, Sr., Robert Reuhlen, <br />Dr. Seth Bostic, Oaither Critz, Fisher Beasley, Jr., Hoy Moose, Boyce Jenkins. <br />Hawfield made motion, seconded by Petrea, that Eugene Cook and Clyde Propst,Sr., <br />be appointed co-chairmen of the aviation committee. Vote carried. Rankin made <br />motion, seconded by Hawfield, to approve a referendum calling for sale of bond for <br />$'300,000.00 for the proposed airport in the Spring of 1969. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> A petition was presented by the Kannapolis Sanitary District requesting <br />annexation to the District of property located at the intersection of Hwy, .ag <br />and Centergrove Road. Petrea made motion, seconded by Beasley, to approve the <br />petition. Vote was unanimous. Resolutions concerning this matter are recorded <br />on page '~ and ~ and become a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened for /fa fuel oil, gasoline, oil, tires, etc. for Sheriff <br /> <br />Department cars. They are as follows: <br /> <br /> # a Fuel Oi 1 <br /> <br />Carolina Oil Company .......... current market price oi' 16el per gallon less discount <br /> oi' l~.70e~ per gallon fluctuating with the market. <br /> ...alternating bid for a firm price for the contract <br /> period of 11.67~ per gallon. <br /> <br />Mutual Oil Company ............ la.aS per gallon subject to market fluctuations. <br /> <br /> <br />
