Call Meeting -April 16, 1969 of the Cabarrus County Commissioners <br /> <br />Present were: Chairman C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: C. McNeil Petrea, Dr. R. B. Rank/n, Jr., <br /> <br /> S. Glenn Hawfleld, Jr. <br /> <br />Absent was Robert A. McClary. Chairman James called the meeting to order. <br /> <br /> Estus B. White, Clerk of Superior Court, administered an oath to <br /> <br />C. Frank James, Dr. R. B. Rankin, Jr., C. McNeil Petrea~ and S. Glenn Hawfteld~Jr. <br />and Ralph K. Litaker as members of the Board of Equalization and Review. Hawfield <br />made motion, seconded by Rankin, to adjourn the newly appointed board. A meeting <br />was called for ~a~ .19, 1969. <br /> <br /> Chairman James called the meeting t~ order. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened for the purchase of two (2) new patrol cars for the <br /> Sheriff's Department. Bids based on specifications were submitted by ~the <br /> following firms: Piedmont Chevrolet Co, Concord, N. C. (delivered price on <br /> <br />two 1969 Chevrolets including N. C. Sales Tax) $6,005.97 <br />Allowance for 1967 Ford #3 and 1966 Ford #5 1,3Q0.OO <br /> Net trade difference $ b~,705.97 <br /> Beasley Cross Chevrolet Co. $ [~,135.1P- <br /> Hilbish Ford Company $ <br /> <br />Petrea made motion, seconded by Hawfield, to accept the low bid of BeasleyCross <br />Chevrolet Co. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Clyde Propst, Sr., and Kent Prewitt, representing the County Aviation Commi- <br />ttee requested appropriation by the commissioners of approximately $150,000.00 <br />for purchase of land for the airport. A discussion was held concerning the <br />possibility of paying for the land on an option basis annually. The Board <br />instructed the COunty Manager to contac/;, the Local Government Commission in <br />Raleigh for a written opinion on G.S. 6.2-8.1 concerning the levy of a tax for <br />airport purposes. <br /> <br /> A lease between Cabarrus County and Wannie Cress Rtchaeds and husband <br /> <br />H. A. Richards for the use of a portion of their land for a County sanitary <br />landfill was approved and ~ ordered recorded. This lease is recorded on page <br />and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> U pon recommendation by the Jackson Park Fire Department, Hawfield made <br /> <br />motion, seconded by Petrea, to appoint the followingPamo~s as commissioners of <br /> <br />the Jackson Park Fire District: F.
