A, call meeting of the Cabarrus County Board of ¢o~issioners was held at the <br /> <br />Courthouse at 7-.30 p.m. on Jur~ 27, 1969. Present were~ <br /> Chairman: C. Frank James <br /> <br /> 8ommissioners: S. Glenn Hawfie~d, Jr., Robert A. McClary, & C. McNeil Petrea. <br /> <br />Absent was Dr. R. B. Rankin~ Jr. Chairman James ca.ll&d' the meeting to order. <br /> <br /> County Manager, Alfred L. Hurt~ presented a sunu~ry of the estimated budget £or the <br />fiscal year 1969-70 and discussed with the Board several minor changes made in the <br />budget estimates since the last meeting. <br /> <br /> After a lengthy discussion concerning the proposed new jail, the Board acted <br /> <br />on the following motion; Hawfield made motion to defer setting the tentative tax rate <br />for the 1969-70 fiscal year until the regular monthly meeting an July 7~ 1969. Petrea <br />offered an amendment to this motion that the County Manager not be required to go over <br />the whole budget again at that time. McClary seconded the motion and the amendment to <br />to the motion. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> A bid by Carolina Time Equipment Company to construct a parkiig meter gate system <br />at the McCachren boulevard entrance to the county parking lot for the amount of <br />$3,600.00 was unanimously approved upon motion by McClary, seconded by Petrea. <br /> <br /> Application by Chester Eugene Avant for the position of Electrical Inspector <br /> <br />was considered by the Board. Motion was made by Petrea~ seconded by McClary to employ <br />Mr. Avant as heating and air conditioning inspector for a limited time until Mr. Avant <br />passed the state examination to obtain his electrician's license. The salary was approveC <br />at $550.00 per month plus travel expense.
