885 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners, for the County of Cabarrus, held a <br /> <br /> public hearing to consider the levy of a one per cent (1%) sales tax, at <br /> the Courthouse, June 21, 1971, at 10:00 a.m. Ail members of the Board <br /> were present. <br /> <br /> Various department heads, including A1 Klimas, Health Director, <br /> <br /> Mrs. Frances Long, Director of Social Services, and Sherrif J. B. Roberts~ <br /> spoke, outlining their departments pressing needs for the 1971/72 fiscal <br /> year. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield then opened the meeting to the public and twelve <br /> <br /> persons spoke in favor of the sales tax. <br /> 1.
