The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, ~et in special <br />session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Friday, June 8, 1973 at 3:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John Hamme t t <br /> <br /> The Board discussed and tentatively approved various departmental budgets. <br /> <br /> Mr. William H. Mills, president of C & M Ambulance Service, appeared before the Board <br />at the invitation of the Board. The Board discussed ambulance service in the County for <br />fiscal year 1973-74. During the discussion, the Board noted that several complaints had <br />been received regarding the quality of ambulance service in the County, and Mills volunteered <br />that he had not, but should have been contacted with respect to the complaints. Commissioner <br />Gallimore explained that there is County-wide sentiment for the County to get into the <br />ambulance service. Commissioner Gallimore recommended that a committee be appointed to <br />study the situation, obtain facts, and report back to the Board. Chairman Hawfield <br />appointed McClary and Gallimore as a committee to meet with Mr. Mills of C & M Ambulance <br />Service. A meeting was arranged, agreeable with both parties, at 10=00 a.m. on Monday, <br />June 11, 1973, in the office of Commissioner Robert McClary. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield discussed a letter that he had received from the Logan Day Care <br />Center, in which a request was made for Revenue Sharing Funds to be allocated to the <br />Concord City School Board for the purpose of renovating Logan School. Logan School, after <br />renovation, would be utilized to expand the day care program of pre-school children of <br />working parents. The Logan Community Day Care Association, Inc., has operated at the <br />Logan Homes site since 1956.
