119 <br /> <br /> The Board of CommissionErs for the County of Cabarrus met in <br />special session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on <br /> <br />Tuesday, February 21, 1978, at 3:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> John Burnett, Do B. Roberts, T. L. Patterson and Don Goins, <br /> <br />all with the Department of Transportation, presented the cost <br />estimates for the road projects proposed by this Board. This Board <br />recommended that priority number 8-A be deleted and the money used <br />toward a new bridge on Little Texas Road (SR 2154). The Department <br />of Transportation is to make final cost estimates and revise their <br />proposed budgets and come back to the March meeting for approval. <br /> <br /> Residents of Artsdale Street asked that some maintenance be done <br /> on their street. The street does not meet the requirements to become <br /> a state road; therefore, the state cannot maintain the street. <br /> <br /> Commissioners Hammett and Cook reported that options could not <br /> <br /> be secured on the additional two sites being looked at for a county <br /> airport. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, Chairman Hawfield was <br /> authorized to appoint a committee to proceed with the planning of a <br /> public meeting to discuss the airport and airport sites. Motion <br /> seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Attorney Boger reported that Dr. Baxter Caldwell had agreed to <br /> grant an option to Cabarrus County for 200 acres of land for six <br /> months for 2% of the price, or $8,000.00, and to give the County the <br /> right to'renew the option for an additional six months upon the pay- <br /> ment of an additional 2%. The option and contract would contain the <br /> provision that the original option payment and the renewal option <br /> payment would be applied on the purchase price. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, Attorney Boger was authorized <br /> to renew the option on the Caldwell property for six months for 2% <br /> of the price, or $8,000.00. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary <br /> and vote carried with Commissioner Milloway voting no. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
