320 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for Cabarrus County met in regular session at the <br />Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, their regular place of meeting on Monday, <br />July 9, 1979, at 6:00 P.M. <br /> Present - Chairman Troy R. Cook <br /> Commissioners: Ralph C. Bonds <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> J. Ray Allen <br /> The invocation was given by the Reverend Tom Whidden of the First Assembly <br />Church. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of June 11, 1979, and of June 22, 1979, were <br />approved as written. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and <br />unanimously carried, the Board set 10:00 a.m. at the next regular meeting of the <br />Board on August 13, 1979, as the time for a public hearing on the road name change <br />of Cal Bost Road. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following resolution: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION PLEDGING COOPERATION WITH THE COUNTY OF <br />CABARRUS IN THE AREA OF STREET AND SUBDIVISION NAMING <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the Cabarrus County Board of County Commissioners, in concert with <br />local governmental officials, of the municipalities and the Kannapolis Street Plan- <br />ning Board, recognizing the need to preserve the health, safety and general welfare <br />of the citizenry, especially in the area of emergency services, have developed a <br />policy to erradicate duplicated or deceptively similar names in the area of sub- <br />division and street naming and, <br /> WHEREAS the elimination of confusion in the area of street names has many <br />desirable results including the lessening of the response time by emergency <br />vehicles on a county-wide basis and, <br /> WHEREAS the continued maintenance of this system of non-duplication depends <br />for a large part on the cooperation of the municipalities within the County, the <br />Kannapolis Street PlanHing Boacd and the Cabarrus County Planning Department. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED THAT THE ELECTED OFFICIALS OF THE TOWN OF <br />MT. PLEASANT, NORTH CAROLINA, sitting in regular session on June 4, 1979, do re- <br />cognize the need for the continuation of this process and do agree to coordinate <br />any new proposed names of streets of subdivisions or any change in name with the <br />Cabarrus County Planning Department prior to official approval of the new name. <br /> This resolution adopted after motion, second and roll call on'this date. <br /> <br />DATED: June 4, 1979 <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />Clerk to the Town Board <br /> <br />TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF <br />MT. PLEASANT, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />/s/ Pam Burleyson <br /> <br />/S/ Ralph Austin <br /> <br />CHAIRMAN <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Allen and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board appointed George Lindsay Faucette as Dog Warden. ~ . <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mr. Terry L. Rowland as Tax Supervisor <br />for Cabarrus County for a two year term. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Allen and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board moved to delay action until response is received <br />from the Town Conncil of Harrisburg as to their recommendations for appointments <br />to expiring terms on the Harrisubrg Planning Board and the Harrisburg Zoning Board <br />of Adjustment. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board moved to accept the completed airport master plan as <br />submitted by Talbert, Cox and Associates, Inc., stating that it meets the terms <br />and conditions of the contract With the said firm. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Bonds with <br />Commissioners Milloway, Bonds, Lentz, and Allen voting for and Chairman Cook <br />voting against, the Board moved "to close the door completely, unequivocably, from <br />now on, forever, hereinafter" ~ on a County-owned airport for Cabarrus County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Bonds with <br /> Commissioners Milloway, Bonds, Lentz, and Allen voting for and Chairman Cook voting <br /> against, the Board moved to abolish the Cabarrus County Airport Authority. <br /> Chairman Cook stated that this was the time and date set for a public hearing <br /> on the renaming of Meadowbrook Road, Mainer D.rive, Boger Drive, and Central Drive <br /> and asked if anyone would like to speak for or against these road name changes. <br /> <br /> <br />
