569 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Tuesday, <br />May 15, 1984, at 7:00 P.M. to meet with the State Coordinator of the <br />Clean Community Program and to begin work on the proposed 1984-85 budget. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> J. Harold Nash <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> Chairman Lentz announced that the State Coordinator of the Clean <br />Community Program was unable to attend the meeting. The Board began <br />review of the proposed annual budget. <br /> The Board set the public hearing for the 1984-85 budget for 7:00 P.M. <br />on Thursday, June 14, 1984, and scheduled adoption of the budget for <br />June 18, 1984, at the regular meeting of the Board. <br /> It was the consensus of the Board that department heads or representatives <br />from agencies submitting a budget request to the Board could make a ten (10) <br />minute presentation to the Board during the budget workshops at a time <br />scheduled by the County Manager. <br /> The Board reviewed the recommended budgets for the Board of Commissioners <br />through the CETA Department. During review of the budget proposals, the <br />Board discussed the possible need for the employment of an additional <br />systems programmer for the Data Processing Department, the development of <br />in-house indexing capability for the Register of Deeds Office on the County's <br />computer, and the increase of the recommended Contingency Fund and Stream <br />Channelization appropriations. No action was taken in these matters. <br /> The Board scheduled a budget workshop for 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, <br />May 24, 1984, and Tuesday, May 29, 1984. In addition to the budget workshop <br />on May 29, the Board set a third public hearing for the Economic Development <br />Project application for 7:00 P.M. on the 29th. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />adjourned at 9:07 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
