April 14, 2009 (Recessed Meeting) <br />Page 1309 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in recessed <br />session in the Multipurpose Room at the Cabarrus County Governmental Center <br />in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday, April 19, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. <br />Present - Chairman: H. Jay White, Sr. <br />Vice Chairman: Grace Mynatt <br />Commissioners: Robert W. Carruth <br />Elizabeth Poole <br />Coy C. Privette <br />Also present were Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager; Kay Honeycutt, <br />Clerk to the Board; and Lyndsay Hayes, Deputy Clerk to the Board. Note: <br />Chairman White was not present for the beginning of the meeting. <br />Call to Order <br />Vice Chairman Mynatt called the meeting to order at 12:35 p.m. <br />Interviews: Construction Manager at Risk - Governmental Complex <br />The Board received presentations from the following construction firms <br />for consideration as the Construction Manager at Risk for the Governmental <br />Complex at the old fairgrounds property: G. W. Liles Construction Co., Inc.; <br />CM Black Construction Co., Inc.; Rodgers Builders; and Turner Construction <br />Company. The interviews included a 30-minute presentation followed by a 20- <br />minute question and answer session. <br />Chairman White arrived shortly after the "Call to Order" and was <br />present for the remainder of the meeting. <br />Prior to the interviews, County staff reviewed nine (9) Request for <br />Qualifications and reduced the number of candidates to four (9) as previously <br />directed by the Board of Commissioners. The "Notice of Request for <br />Qualification Statements from Construction or Construction Management Firms <br />Interested in being the Construction Manager at Risk for a New 24,000 Square <br />Foot Government Office Building and Supporting Infrastructure" was posted on <br />the County's website on March 29, 2009 and direct mailed to a number of <br />firms. <br />Discussion <br />Following the interviews, there was a general discussion on the <br />qualifications and experience of each firm. The Board decided to make the <br />final decision at its April 20, 2009 regular meeting. <br />Recess <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting recessed at 4:32 p.m. to 10:00 a.m, on <br />Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in Multipurpose Room of the Governmental Center. <br />~~-~ <br />Cler to he ar <br />
