April 23, 2009 (Recessed Meeting) <br />The Board of Commissioners for the <br />recessed session at the Cabarrus Arena an <br />North Carolina on Thursday, April 23, 2009, <br />Present - Chairman: <br />Vice Chairman: <br />Commissioners: <br />Page 1352 <br />County of Cabarrus met in <br />i Events Center in Concord, <br />at 1:00 p.m. <br />H. Jay White, Sr. <br />Grace M. Mynatt <br />Coy C. Privette <br />Absent - Commissioners: Robert W. Carruth <br />Elizabeth Poole <br />Also present were Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager; Jonathan <br />Marshall, Commerce Director; and Lyndsay Hayes, Deputy Clerk to the <br />Board. <br />Note: Commissioners Carruth and Poole were working and not able <br />to attend the meeting. <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 1:07 p.m. <br />Urban <br />the 2008 Citi~ <br />UNC-Charlotte's Urban Institute hosted a regional forum to <br />discuss the 2008 Citistates Report "Green, Great, and Global" written <br />by Neal Peirce and Curtis Johnson from The Citistates Group. A panel <br />was comprised of several local leaders including Vice Chairman Mynatt; <br />Debra Campbell, City of Charlotte Planning Director; Jonathan <br />Marshall, Cabarrus County Commerce Director; Lindsey Dunevant, Stanly <br />County Commissioner; and Olee Joel Olsen, Sencera Business Development <br />Director. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Peirce described the report as an <br />extensive analysis of the Charlotte region and its opportunities and <br />challenges related to growth and sustainability. The panelists then <br />answered questions posed by audience members. <br />No action was taken by the Board. <br />Adjournment <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman White, <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 1:56 p.m. <br />Cle k t thr <br />
