545 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in recessed <br />session in the Commissioners~ Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County Governmental <br />Center in Concord, North Carolina, on Tuesday, May 26, 1992 at 5:30 P.M. <br /> Present Chairman: Carolyn B. Carpenter <br /> Commissioners: William G. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Jeffrey L. Barnhart <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> Absent Commissioner: Billy J. Simmons, Jr. <br /> Also present were Mr. John V. Witherspoon, County Manager; Mr. John Day, <br />Budget Officer; and Mrs. Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk to the Board. <br /> Chairman Carpenter called the meeting to order at 5:40 P.M. <br /> Sheriff Robert Canaday requested five additional emergency medical <br />dispatchers for the operation of the E-911 system which is scheduled for <br />implementation on October 1, 1992. He estimated the cost for these additional <br />positions at $151,050.00. Sheriff Canaday showed a video which illustrated the <br />work of the emergency medical dispatchers, and he stressed the importance of <br />using deputies rather than civilians for these positions. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Payne, and Barnhart and Chairman Carpenter voting for, the <br />Board moved to incorporate into the budget the Sheriff's recommendation for five <br />emergency medical dispatch employees for the E-911 system at an estimated cost <br />was $151,050.00. <br /> Mr. Alex Rankin, member of the Cabarrus County Board of Health, asked the <br />Board to consider the addition of two school health nurse positions to the <br />budget. The estimated cost of these two 10-month positions was $45,000.00. <br /> The motion by Chairman Carpenter to add the two school health nurses back <br />into the budget failed for lack of second. <br /> The Board agreed to place the school health nurse positions on a high <br />priority list for future consideration. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart with <br />Chairman Carpenter and Commissioners Barnhart, Hamby and Payne voting for, the <br />Board approved the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL CONTROL <br />AMOUNT $4,000.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: SUPPLEMENTAL REQUEST <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: To replace money used to comply with veterinarians <br />inspections of shelter. (Additional funding <br />for zoning technician.) <br /> <br /> <br />
