Colerider, Jr. <br />County Schools <br />Eleven visitors from <br />County Schools <br />1. Before the meeting was assembled an inspection was made of the soil <br />and water conservation exhibits, which had been presented by 7th <br />grade students of the county schools. They were on display in a <br />special room set aside for the purpose. Exhibits were from Bethel, <br />Harrisburg, Hartsell, Odell, Mount Pleasant, and Winecoff Schools, <br />which is every elementary school in our County School System that <br />teaches a 7th grade. These exhibits demonstrated that much careful <br />study and planned effort had been exercised by the pupils and <br />teachers in this educational project of soil and water conservation, <br />which had been sponsored by Dr. Brown McAllister. <br />2. After the inspection, the Board meeting was called to order in an <br />adjoining room by Chairman Coltrane. Dr. McAllister was introduced <br />and with very appropriate remarks awarded prizes for the three best <br />exhibits. Those present who represented the schools were:.introduced <br />and received the awards as follows: <br />First Prise (25.00): Odell School -- Represented by Ray E. Jarvis, <br />Teacher; Rodney Ballard, Student <br />Second Price (20.00): Mt. Pleasant School -- Represented by Mrs. Helen <br />Shue, Teacher; Mrs. Martha J. Kirk, Teacher; <br />Lindy Shue, Student; Carol Kluttz, Student <br />Third Prime (15:00): Hartsell School -- Represented by Richard <br />Lapish, Teacher; Gary Rollins, Student <br />i <br />3. The Chairman introduced Wayne Boles, Agriculture Teacher, and <br />Crawford W. Mullis, Jr., student, both from Cabarrus Northwest High <br />School. They had been selected by our committee to attend 1967 <br />Resources Conservation Workshop at N. C. State University. Mr. Boles <br />is to represent Area 3 as Counselor, and Mr. Mullis is the delegate <br />to represent Cabarrus District. <br />The Chairman also introduced Max Hurlocker who represented our <br />District at the Workshop last year. <br />
