Meeting No. 59 continued <br />4. Mr. Len B. Brafford, who has been recommended for appointment <br />as Associate Supervisor was introduced. <br />5. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />6. Report of District Conservationist for month of April: <br />12 Radio Programs <br />86 Cooperators Assisted, 6 of which for the first time this year. <br />2 Farm Plans (120 acres) <br />3 Consultive Servies <br />1402 Acres of LAND ADEQUATELY TREATED <br />Soil Stewardship Week a great success: <br />2,000 Church Bulletin inserts were delivered <br />5 Spot announcements were made by each radio station during <br />the week <br />2 Ten minute programs on Soil Stewardship <br />Information delivered to newspaper on Soil Stewardship <br />Mr. Price reported that most of the information required for <br />Site 19 by the engineer had been received from Raleigh. <br />8. Committee Reports: <br />Education: 8 sets of pictures AMERICA: THE BEAUTIFUL have been <br />ordered for the County Schools. <br />Finance: No Report <br />Publicity: A meeting was held with officials of the Concord <br />Tribune, and a request was made that a reporter be <br />assigned the duty of covering the publicity needs <br />of this Board. The request was granted and a reporter <br />will be assigned to cover our publicity in the near <br />future. <br />J Watershed: In the absence of Mr. Colerider, Chairman of the <br />Committee, Mr. Coltrane reported that he, Mr. Colerider, <br />and Mr. Parker attended a meeting of the Cabarrus <br />County Watershed Commissioners. The purpose of the <br />meeting was to determine if any action could be taken <br />to insure the control of flood waters on Coldwater Creek, <br />since the building of'Structure 12, had been declared <br />not feasible, because of the necessity of installing <br />a sewage pipe line following Coldwater Creek, from near <br />Kannapolis to a pumping station near the Coldwater Church <br />Road. As a result of this meeting, it was suggested <br />that the feasibility be investigated of controlling these <br />flood waters by building small retaining structures on <br />the tributaries of Coldwater Creek, and, or, by building <br />structures to retain flood waters on top of Lake Fisher <br />U <br />
