5. The District Conservationist gave the following report of accomplishments <br />during the month of July 1969: <br />a. B Radio Programs <br />38 Cooperators assisted (with 33 first visits this year) <br />O Consultive Services <br />1 Agreement signed (131 acres) (Richard E. Jones) <br />0 Conservation Plans <br />152.5 Acres of Land adequately treated <br />b. Reports were made on the following: <br />July 8....Spent the day in the Area office reviewing the <br />SCS Annual Plan of Operations. <br />July 16 ... Much time during the month has been spent <br />planning better Conservation with Camp Cabarrus <br />(Boy Scout Camp) <br />July 30 ... Approximately 50 Cabarrus County citizens joined <br />the Farm tour conducted by Miss Elise Litaker of <br />the ASCS office. <br />A memorandum from the Department of Interior changing the <br />policy of fish deliveries was explained. <br />Mr. Price reported that he was taking annual leave from the <br />SCS office beginning August 13 through August 27, 1969. <br />6. Committee Reports: <br />EDUCATION: <br />a. Mr. W. E. Cook, Chairman of the committee to select THE <br />FARMER OF THE YEAR asked that Mr. Ray Allen be contacted <br />to arrange a meeting to review recommendations. <br />b. 700 booklets are to be delivered to Dr. R. Brown McAllister <br />for distribution to students and 100 booklets are to be <br />placed with the literature in the District office. <br />FINANCE: <br />a. A report was made that the District recently received $1150.00 <br />from the State office for matching funds. <br />PUBLICITY: <br />a. Mr. Parker reported that he had called Mr. Buckmeyer, Manager <br />of Lamar -Dean Advertizing Company of Winston -Salem and at a <br />recent meeting of the Supervisors the matter of the six (6) <br />billboard posters which this Company was to install in Cabarrus <br />County was discussed. He told Mr. Buckmeyer that of the ten <br />persons present, that not one of them had seen a single poster <br />displayed in the County. <br />Mr. Buckmeyer said that the posters were installed during the <br />month of February and were due to stay in place for 30 days. <br />Mr. Parker asked him to notify him of the location in Cabarrus <br />County of each of the six billboards on which the posterswere <br />displayed. Mr. Parker said frankly, he did not see how six <br />posters on Soil and Water could be displayed in Cabarrus <br />County without being noticed by this audience and he thought <br />perhaps that an error had been made and in checking records <br />it would probably be found that the posters were displayed <br />somewhere else. <br />
