4 . <br />Treasurer's Report: <br />There were no receipts or disbursements during the month of January: <br />2-1-70 NET CASH IN BANK $2426.04 <br />5. The District Conservationist gave the following report of accomplishmenta <br />during the month of January 1970: <br />8 Radio Programs <br />25 Cooperators assisted (with 13 first visits) <br />2 Consultive Services <br />1 Agreement Signed <br />2 Conservation Plans <br />23 Acres of Recreation area Improvement <br />67 Acres of land adequately treated <br />Mr. Price reported that besides working with our Cooperators and <br />servicing them, he attended a Defense Board meeting in Statesville <br />on January 22, 1970 and met with Mr. Jerry Myers, County Planner <br />on January 23, 1970. <br />Mr. Price reported that plant materials will be sent in very soon for <br />Central Cabarrus High School, Concord City Park and for individual <br />urban residents who are in bad need of stabilizing banks at their <br />homes to prevent erosion and sediment. <br />6. Committee Reports:• <br />Education: <br />a. A large number of bulletins on Soil and Water Conservation <br />have been distributed or mailed to the seventh grade students <br />of the County schools. <br />b. The material on SOIL STEWARDSHIP WEEK has been received in <br />the District office and was reviewed by our Board of Supervisors. <br />The Supervisors have requested that we obtain a sample of the <br />church bulletin insert to be printed by the State Soil and <br />Water Conservation Committee. <br />C. The annual speaking contest of the seventh grade students who <br />are potentials for the prizes given by the District Supervisors <br />for the best speeches will be held at A. T. Allen School on <br />March 5, 1970 at 7:30 P.M. <br />Finance: No report <br />Publicity: The Concord Tribune and the Daily Independent has <br />published several articles on Soil Erosion and Sediment <br />and also the acceptance of Mr.•W. H. Cato working part- <br />time with the District. <br />Watershed: The Supervisors and Watershed Commissioners discussed <br />structure site 20, structure 19 of Mt. Pleasant and of <br />the City of Concord working with the SCS jointly on <br />structure 34 (or structure 4 and 5). <br />
