(4) A letter dated March 26, 1970 was read to the members <br />inviting them to the RC&D Project meeting in Salisbury <br />at Ketnerts Cafeteria on April 14th at 7:00 P.M. <br />e. Chairman Coltrane asked that letters be written to the <br />Associate Supervisors, Watershed Commissioners, Mr. Alfred <br />Hurt, Mr. John L. Brown, Jr., Mir. J. P. Francis, Mr. Ray <br />Allen, Mr. Jerry Myers, Mr. C. Frank James, Mayor Alfred m. <br />Brown, Mr. Neil M. Craig, Jr. and a reminder to all the <br />District Supervisors. The letter is to urge the City and <br />County officials to attend the RC&D meeting. - I <br />4. A motion was made and unanimously passed to authorize the <br />Treasurer to pay Area III dues of $5.00. <br />5. The District Conservationist gave the following report of accomplishments <br />during the month of March 1970: <br />10 Radio Progrmas <br />27 Cooperators assisted (with 7 first visits) <br />2 Agreements signed <br />1 Conservation Plan <br />2 Services on Resource Plans <br />1100 Ft. of Field Border <br />73 Acres of land adequately treated <br />Mr. Price reported: <br />a. OPEDA meeting in Albemarle, N. C. on March 6, 1970. <br />b. Working with Mr. Sam Hearn to decide on the Land Judging <br />site on March 18 1970. <br />c. Attending an Area Conference meeting in Albemarle on <br />March 19, 1970. <br />d. Gave advice on tree planting to commerate Arbor Day at <br />Carver School in Kannapolis on March 25, 1970. <br />e, Numerous Junior High School teachers of the City of <br />Concord are interested in getting into some type of <br />Conservation program. <br />f. A great deal of interest is being promoted by private <br />Companies in the purchase of pulpwood. Midland pulpwood <br />yard has employed a Forester to mark trees to be cut for <br />pulpwood. <br />g. The Extension agent, Mr. S. S. Bishop, was contacted <br />concerning the 4-H Conservation project. The District <br />Supervisors have requested that they have a chance to <br />participate in this program. <br />h. Dr. R. Brown McAllister, supplementing our Educational <br />Project, will distribute the inserts of the Soil Steward- <br />ship Week Program for the week of May 3-10, 1970, to <br />students in Concord Schools. <br />
