Three prizes are to be <br />awarded by the Concord Womens' Club. <br />A motion was made and unanimously passed that the District <br />Supervisors donate $25.00 to the Womens' Club to help purchase <br />the prize for the first place winner. <br />b. Chairman Coltrane reported that Book No. 2 had been purchased <br />for the District minutes. <br />4. A motion was made and unanimously passed authorizing the Treasurer <br />to pay Mr. Cato $11.10 for materials used for the Fair Exhibit and <br />the Farmer of the Year award. <br />5. The District Conservationist gave the following report of accomplishments <br />during the month of August: <br />10 Radio Programs <br />1 Conservation Plan <br />4 Agreements signed ( 255 acres total) <br />1 Consultive Service <br />10 Acres Wildlife Development <br />It was reported: <br />August 14 ......... Working with Biologist, Phil Edwards on several pond <br />problems in the County. <br />August 20 ......... Attended a staff conference in Albemarle. <br />August 26 ......... Mr. Price worked with George McIntyre, Engineer, on <br />several sections of the County <br />Mr. Price reported that while working in Mt. Pleasant, he had a chance to <br />see a stuffed animal wildlife display which has been made and set up as <br />an exhibit by the Boy Scouts. <br />6. Committee Reports: <br />Education: <br />a. It was reported that the Litterbags to be used on the Conservation tour <br />have been received in the District office. <br />b. Mr. Cato reported that he had been working with Dr. McAllister to plan <br />the Educational Conservation tour for the seventh grade students. The <br />tour is planned for the last week in September and first week in October. <br />C. It was suggested that each County school select Ministers from their <br />vicinity to join the Conservation tour on the day the school students <br />in the Ministers area will be taking the trip. <br />Finance: No report <br />Publicity: <br />Mr. Alan Forsyth of the Concord Tribune and Mr. Wayne Foster of the <br />Daily Independent were present at the meeting to get pictures and write-up <br />Of Mr. Roy Townsend, FARMER OF THE YEAR. <br />
