Special guests <br />w e:re D/Irrs. Robert Lovingood, Mrs. Edith Swaringen, W. H. Cato, Ronnie Howard, DC, <br />Bi.1 t4organ, Forest Service and Pearl Robbins. <br />Rev. Thomas Hogan, newly elected Supervisor, gave the Invocation. Rev. Hogan <br />asked for a minute of silent prayer to remember. the Fred H. Harkey family. <br />Fred H. Harkey, Chairman of Watershed Corms fission, died on December it, 1976. <br />Ti -case of the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District and datershed <br />Cc,. who have been closely associated with Fred for the past 13 years <br />c]<pressed deep sorrow at the loss of a good friend and co-ivorker. <br />Chairman Patterson called on Hugh Price to conduct the Speech contest. Stephens -Soil Scientist and Party Leader for Cabarrus <br />County Soil Survey <br />Bch of the six contestants gave their speech on variou, phases of conservation. <br />L <br />,qhile the judges retired to make their decision, Bill Morgan of the Forest <br />S explained his work in forestry in Cabarrus County. <br />rjr.
