f... The area speech contest will be held at Rowan Tech. on <br />Saturday, March 23rd.,, at 10.,00 A. M. Frank Herrin or <br />Bill Hull or both will see that our contestant is there. <br />LAND USE: John Hammill gave an interesting report on an article <br />he read concerning good management of land resources <br />with peanuts and fescue. <br />Hugh Price reported Ralph Austin, mayor of Mt. Pleasant <br />had requested our help in obtaining information relative <br />to the study of wildlife in the area of the Reservoir <br />for the Mt. Pleasant water supply. <br />WATERSHED: <br />a. The oath of office was given to Tommy Smith, new member of <br />the watershed commission. <br />b. The Watershed Commission elected for their officers: Mike <br />Harkey, President; Jerry Hammill, Vice Chairman and Tommy <br />Smith, Secretary- Treasurer. <br />5. A report from Hugh Price District Conservationist is attatched <br />to these minutes. <br />6. OLD BUSINESS: <br />a. A few pine seedlings are still left for sale. They have been <br />on hand so long Bill Morgan, Forestry Agent did not feel they <br />should be sold so we have been letting them go for a donation. <br />b. In addition to the help of Frank Herrin and his family, the <br />District expressed thanks to Jimmy Little and his wife for <br />helping with the tree sale. <br />C. Eyvonne McDaniel has shown a lot of improvement since her <br />heart attact. She is geeting around real good; driving and <br />has been to the office. She goes back to the doctor on <br />March 14th. and very much hopes he will allow her to return <br />to work. <br />7. NEW BUSINESS: <br />a. The proposed budget for the new year was discussed. It <br />needs to be reviewed by Mr. McGinnis by April 4th. <br />Chairman Moose read the items and amounts proposed in the <br />budget. A motion was made by Paul Bowles, seconded by Lipe <br />Barrier we accept the proposed budget. Frank Herrin made <br />an amendment we increase the item for computer materials by <br />$500. The amendment did not receive a second. The motion <br />was voted on and passed. <br />8. Chairman Moose adjourned the meeting. <br />9. Next Meeting: April 9th., 1985 Agriculture Center 7:30 P.
