5.6 Siqn Requlations= <br /> <br /> 6.6-! Intent: <br /> <br /> The general ntent of this section ia to balance the <br /> need for signage with an environment that remains visually <br /> pleasing and free from the clutter which may impair motbrist <br /> safety, To that purpose, the provisions of this ordinance <br /> will regulate the number, size and location of signs in <br /> zoning districts of Cebarrus County. See table in Section <br /> 3.4 for specifics. Any sign authorized by this ordinance is <br /> allowed to contain non-commercial copy in lieu of any other <br /> copy. <br /> <br /> 5.6-2 Definitions: <br /> <br /> The following definitions are set forth to promote <br /> clarity. <br /> <br />I. Abandoned Siqn - A sign that has: 13 not been <br />maintained in keeping with SecZion 5.6-16 of this ordinance~ <br />or 2) a sign referring to a business, entity, etc. which no <br />longer exists and has eot for e period in excess of 90 days. <br /> <br /> 2. Banner. - A sign intended to be hung either with or <br />without a frame, possessing characters, letters, <br />illustrations, or ornamentations applied to plastic or <br />fabric of any kind, excluding flags and emblems of <br />political, professional, religious, educational, or <br />corporate organizations. <br /> <br /> 3. Canopy and Awninq Siqns - A sign attached to or <br />painted or printed onto a canopy or awning. For the <br />purposes of this ordinance, the permitted size of a canopy <br />or awning sign will be calculated on the basis of the size <br />of the building wall to which the canopy is attached. Construction siqn - A sign placed at a construction <br />s te identifying or announcing the project or the name of <br />the architect, engineer, contractor, financier, or others <br />involved in the development of the project. A construction <br />sign may not contain leasing or sales information. <br /> <br /> 5. Detached Siqn - Any sign that is not affixed or <br />attached to a building and is securely and permanently <br />mounted in the ground. Such sign may be a ground mounted or <br />pole mounted sign for the purpose of this ordinance. <br /> <br /> 6. Birectional/Informat io~ Siqn - A sign with a <br />directional arrow and the name~and/or logo of an <br />establishment but no advertising copy, for example, phone <br />number, hours of operation, etc. <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
