It was discovered that there are ~resently <br />several employees, having Significant physical disabilities, who ave able <br />to perform valuable services for the County. These ranged from a~tificial <br />limbs to blindness (made possible by a friend who drives and provides <br />other services in order that this person might work). These examp%es <br />demonstrate that, with certain accommodations, many positions can be <br />successfully filled by persons with various physical disabilities. <br /> <br />Positions which may reasonably be filled by persons with various visual, <br />hearing and motor disabilities follows: <br /> <br />Visual <br /> '~'lind <br /> - Some clerical, if special key boards are provided and if other <br /> personnel are available to read for them as needed. <br /> - Administrative Assistant in the Recreation Department, if a <br /> special key board is provided on computer and typewriter. <br /> - Some health educators, nutritionists and social workers if <br /> transportation problems are solved. <br /> <br />Impaired(In addition to Above Positions) <br />- Some additional clerical positions, usually with special equipment. <br />- Tax data entry specialist, with special equipment. <br /> <br />Hearin~ <br /> Deaf <br /> <br />Administrative Assistant in Recreation Department. <br />Nurses <br />Lab Technicians <br />Sanitarians <br />Data Processing Manager <br />Programmer/Analyst <br />Inspectors (with good speech training) <br />Draftsman <br />Mechanic <br /> <br />~paired (In Addition to Above Positions) <br />- Cartographer/Tax Supervisor <br />- Tax Data Entry Specialist <br />- Appraisers, with special phone equipment <br />- Many Clerical and Secretarial <br />- Finance Director <br />- Assistant Finance Director <br />- Accounting Clerks <br />- Park Manager <br />- Maintenance Supervisors <br />- Programs staff, with special phone equipment <br /> <br />Motor Severe <br /> - Many Clerical and Secretarial, provided the impairment does not <br /> involve manual or finger dexterity. <br /> - Health Director <br /> - Veteran Service <br /> - Data Processing Personnel <br /> - Finance Director and Assistant Personnel <br /> - JTPA Counselors <br /> - Cartography <br /> <br />Impaired (In Addition to Above Positions) <br />- Tax Supervisor <br />- Appraisers <br />- Garage Supervisor <br />- Mechanic <br />- Planning Director <br />- Planner <br />- Draftsman <br />- Tax Collectors (all types) <br /> <br /> <br />
