A description of these drainage basins follows in the scope of
work.

SCOPE OF WORK

Description of Study Area:
A. Upper Rocky River/Coddle Creek Drainage Basin:

Be

This basin includes
the area beginning at the intersection of Rocky River and Flowes
Store Road and bounded on the east by the Irish Buffalo Creek
drainage basin, on the north by the Cabarrus/Rowan/Iredell County
line, on the west by the Cabarrus/Mecklenburg County line, on the
south by the Mallard Creek/Rocky River drainage basin to the point
of confluence with Coddle Creek and the area north of Rocky River
from Coddle Creek to the point of beginning.
Muddy Creek/Rocky River Drainage Basin: Beginning at the southern
tip of Cabarrus County, in a northerly direction along Rocky River
to the gas pipeline right-of-way, then northwest along the gas
pipeline right-of-way to U.S. Highway 601, then north along U.S.
601 to N.C. 24/27, then west along N.C. 24/27 to Old Camden Road,
then south along Old Camden Road to the Mecklenburg County line
then along the Cabarrus/Mecklenburg County line to the point of
beginning.

Population/Land Use:

A review of the population, land development and use trends and zoning
in the areas described. Population data, projections, and land use and
zoning information utilized will be provided by the County Planning
staff.

3. Study Period:

The study will cover a twenty year period from present to the year 2005.

4. Water Demands:

A review and analysis of existing water consumption records, where
available, to be used in conjunction with the population projections to
determine the present and future wastewater flows. Also, review
existing 201 Facilities Plan and other recent sewer studies that may be
available.

5. System Layout:

A schematic layout of the proposed wastewater systems including line
sizes, and approximate location of collection sewers, interceptors,
pumping stations, force mains and wastewater treatment plants. Layout
maps will be based on information available from existing USGS topo-
graphic maps.

6. Treatment:

Recommendations relative to the method of treatment, if required,
outlining the basis of design and the development of a preliminary
schematic for treatment units. The type of wastes are anticipated to be
residential, commercial and domestic industrial. Special industrial
type wastes will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis under the Miscel-
laneous Engineering Services section of this contract.
