No County funds <br /> requested. <br /> <br /> Mr. James H. Hoffman of the Citizens for Sewer Bonds Committee made the <br />presentation that the members of the Committee are giving to civic groups and <br />organizations in support of the upcoming sewer bonds. He stressed the need <br />for controlled growth in the county and the importance of water and sewer in <br />attracting people to Cabarrus County. <br /> Chairman Lentz expressed the Board's appreciation to Mr. Hoffman and the <br />Citizens for Sewer Bonds Committee for their work in support of the upcoming <br />bond referendum. <br /> Ms. Karen E. Gottovi of Independent Opinion Research and Communications, <br />Inc., presented An Opinion Survey of Voters in Cabarrus County~ North Carolina <br />outlining the results of a telephone survey of 500 randomly selected regis- <br />tered voters in Cabarrus County on October 13-16, 1987. This survey included <br />questions regarding such items as planning concerns, water and sewer needs, <br />county office use, public school system, and vote intention on the sewer bond <br />and technical college bond issues. Ms. Gottovi reported that the responses <br />in regards to the bond issues after informing the registered voters of the <br />possible tax impact of each issue were as follows: <br /> <br />53.1% in favor of sewer bond <br />31.4% against the sewer bond <br />14.9% Undecided <br /> <br />60.6% in favor of college bond <br />25.7% against the college bond <br />12.4% Undecided <br /> <br /> The Board briefly reviewed a draft of an informational brochure prepared <br />by Independent Opinion Research and Communications outlining facts regarding <br />the sewer bond and technical college bond referendum. <br /> <br /> <br />
