Alexander, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Council on <br />Aging, reported that the Council on Aging had raised the $6,258.00 necessary to <br />receive the Lutheran Brotherhood Challenge Grant toward the Senior Center <br />Building Fund. Therefore, he withdrew the request for financial assistance from <br />the County at this time. <br /> Ms. Sue Archer, Aging Program Administrator with the Centralina Council <br />of Governments, presented information relative to the North Carolina/Centralina <br />Area Agency on Aging Planning process for aging services in the region. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Commissioners Melvin, Hamby, and Moss and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board <br />appointed Ms. Angela Ferguson, Interim Aging Director, as the County Planning <br />Liaison Person to the Area Agency on Aging for the planning process for aging <br />services in the region. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Chairman Lentz with <br />Commissioners Melvin, Moss, and Hamby and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board <br />appointed the following members to the County Planning Task Force for the <br />planning process for Older Adult Services. <br /> <br />Ms. Ann Johnston <br />Dr. Michael D. Geller <br />Mr. Donnelle Wilson Mr <br />Ms. Rachel Benefield Ms <br />Mr. Jeff Young Ms. <br />Ms. Donna Udovich (Chairperson) Ms <br />Mr. Whit Moose, Jr. Ms. <br />Mr. Larry Taylor Ms <br /> <br />Mr. Freeman R. Jones <br />Ms Jan Ronan <br /> <br />Sammy Johnson <br />Angela Ferguson <br />Mary Gilmor-Fox <br />Louvern Fuller <br />Donna Poe <br />Susan Donaldson <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Commissioners Moss, Hamby, and Melvin and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board <br />agreed to ask Representative Bobby H. Barbee, Sr., to add Cabarrus County to <br />the following proposed bill to permit the taking of foxes during hunting season. <br /> <br />AN ACT TO PERMIT THE TAKING OF FOXES IN STANLY COUNTY <br /> <br />The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: <br /> Section 1. Not withstanding any other provision of law, there <br />is an open season for taking foxes with weapons from December 1 <br />through January 1 of each year. <br /> Section 2. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, there <br />is an open season for taking foxes by trapping from January 2 <br />through January 31 of each year. During this season, all leghold <br />traps set on dry land with solid anchor shall have at least three <br />swivels in the trap chain and no leghold traps larger than size one <br />and one-half may be used. <br /> Section 3. A season bag limit of 20 applies in the aggregate <br />to all foxes taken during the weapons and trapping seasons <br />established in this act. <br /> Section 4. The Wildlife Resources Commission shall provide <br />for the sale of foxes taken lawfully pursuant to this act. <br /> Section 5. This act shall apply only to Stanly County. <br /> Section 6. This act shall become effective upon passage. <br /> <br /> Chairman Lentz reported that Commissioner Simmons had requested that the <br />meeting on December 4 be changed from 7:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. due to a scheduling <br />conflict. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Chairman Lentz and Commissioners Hamby, Moss, and Melvin voting for, the Board <br />by resolution changed the meeting time on December 4, 1989 from 7:00 P.M. to <br />5:00 P.M. <br /> Mr. Michael M. Ruffin, County Manager, reported that there were two copies <br />of the Environmental Assessment Update for the Proposed Cabarrus County Airport <br /> <br /> <br />
