Mr. William G. Alexander, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Council on Aging, reported that the Council on Aging had raised the $6,258.00 necessary to receive the Lutheran Brotherhood Challenge Grant toward the Senior Center Building Fund. Therefore, he withdrew the request for financial assistance from the County at this time. Ms. Sue Archer, Aging Program Administrator with the Centralina Council of Governments, presented information relative to the North Carolina/Centralina Area Agency on Aging Planning process for aging services in the region. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with Commissioners Melvin, Hamby, and Moss and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board appointed Ms. Angela Ferguson, Interim Aging Director, as the County Planning Liaison Person to the Area Agency on Aging for the planning process for aging services in the region. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Chairman Lentz with Commissioners Melvin, Moss, and Hamby and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board appointed the following members to the County Planning Task Force for the planning process for Older Adult Services. Jones Ms Jan Ronan Sammy Johnson Angela Ferguson Mary Gilmor-Fox Louvern Fuller Donna Poe Susan Donaldson UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with Commissioners Moss, Hamby, and Melvin and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board agreed to ask Representative Bobby H. Barbee, Sr., to add Cabarrus County to the following proposed bill to permit the taking of foxes during hunting season. AN ACT TO PERMIT THE TAKING OF FOXES IN STANLY COUNTY The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: Section 1. Not withstanding any other provision of law, there is an open season for taking foxes with weapons from December 1 through January 1 of each year. Section 2. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, there is an open season for taking foxes by trapping from January 2 through January 31 of each year. During this season, all leghold traps set on dry land with solid anchor shall have at least three swivels in the trap chain and no leghold traps larger than size one and one-half may be used. Section 3. A season bag limit of 20 applies in the aggregate to all foxes taken during the weapons and trapping seasons established in this act. Section 4. The Wildlife Resources Commission shall provide for the sale of foxes taken lawfully pursuant to this act. Section 5. This act shall apply only to Stanly County. Section 6. This act shall become effective upon passage. Chairman Lentz reported that Commissioner Simmons had requested that the meeting on December 4 be changed from 7:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. due to a scheduling conflict. UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with Chairman Lentz and Commissioners Hamby, Moss, and Melvin voting for, the Board by resolution changed the meeting time on December 4, 1989 from 7:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
