Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes
March 19, 1992
,

Paqe 2 4

Mr. Prince said maybe he is reading number 1 wrong. It
says within 1 mile of the house or the property you are
trying to sell as per intersection. Mr. Prince said he
does not have a intersection wi.thin 1 mile of him. He
said if he did, it would not help him.

Ms. Peggy Drye addressed the board stating they have been
following the proceedings in the newspaper, and then she
got a call this afternoon that there would be a hearing
tonight. She said she has a question, Mr. Downs
addressed the fact that maybe we would no longer be
restricted to the black and white signs, is that correct.
As long as the sign is in the proper dimension we can use
any colors or any company signs, is that correct? As far
as 4 signs out at an intersection, she would like to
follow up with what Mr. Newton said. The signs, we do
try to get them out of an intersection when the property
is no longer on the market, we do-not like to clutter the
site. She said it would be very seldom that you would
find more than 3 or 4 signs at an intersection, they are
very expensive, and they do not leave them out when they
are not needed. So she thinks they would police
themselves.

Chairperson Randall asked if there is a motion.

Mr. Hartgen MOTIONED subject to the conditions of the
petition that Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Office
would have a copy of any permits issued by DOT, seconded
by Mr. Smith.

Mr. Amos asked Mr. Newton how much input did the realtors
and home builders have in the drafting of these changes.

Mr. Newton stated he had asked Mr. Hurlocker to take
these changes to the realtors. He did not make any
efforts to talk to the home builders association.

Mr. Hurlocker said he would like to clarify this. When
he was asked to pick up a copy from Mr. Newton, he had
received several calls, Mr. Jim Morgan had called, Mr.
Prince had called, and he attempted to call the people
who called him. He did talk with Mr. Bub Craver who is
involved with the developers and got to as many people as
he could talk with, but there has not been any formal
presentation to the board of realtors or anyone else.
However, he thinks in his mind this addresses a lot of
the concerns of his office and other offices. Mr.
Hurlocker said the problem with postponing this petition
is that a lot of people with the ordinance the way it
