a <br />Education: <br />a, Samples of the Soil Stewardship Week material was presented <br />to the Supervisors for their approval. It was suggested <br />that Reverend Howard Allred be invited to the February <br />meeting to (1) ask if he would consider being the Chaplain <br />for the Cabarrus District and (2) to have him supervise <br />the distribution of the Soil Stewardship Week material. <br />Week of May 7-14, 1972. <br />b. A report was made that.Dr. Brown McAllister and W. H. Cato <br />had discussed the speaking contest held in the Spring. A <br />motion was made and unanimously passed that the same prize <br />arrangement as last year be repeated. The speaking contest <br />is scheduled to be held in March as a part of the regular <br />monthly meeting. Details will be completed after the <br />February meeting. <br />c. A motion was made and unanimously passed that a representative <br />from the Cabarrus District be sent to the Resource <br />Conservation Workshop in June. <br />d. A motion was made and unanimously passed approving.the <br />annual Land Judging contest and that the contest be <br />conducted in the same manner as last year. <br />e. A report was made that beginning Thursday, January 13, 1972, <br />conservation weekly programs will begin on Radio station <br />W R K B at 6:45 A. M. The Cabarrus District radio programs <br />will, in the future, be given on three radio networks. <br />Finance: No report <br />Publicity: <br />a. Numerous articles in the local newspapers have had excellent <br />coverage on two sanitary districts in Cabarrus County. <br />(1) Gordon Heights Sanitary District (800 acres) and (2) <br />Jackson Park Sanitary District (700 acres). Both sanitary <br />districts are requesting very helpful information from the <br />Cabarrus SCS office. <br />Watershed: <br />a. At the request of the Watershed Commissioners, a copy of <br />the rules and regulations involved in watershed programs <br />has been given to each Watershed Commissioner. <br />b. The Watershed Commissioners, at this meeting, agreed <br />unanimously to keep the same officers for the coming year. <br />C. Tommy Cutts, Engineer, cancelled being in the Cabarrus <br />Work Unit on January 4, 1972. Mr. Cutts has re-scheduled <br />Friday, January 14, 1972 to work with the District <br />Conservationist and technical personnel to locate the <br />center line on structure 34. <br />
