C. -Rural Development Meeting <br />9 Smith-Douglas Fertilizer Meeting. <br />10 Met with Inter-Agency group at Spworth Methodist Church <br />16,17 Worked with Lonnie Thompson and Jack Webb on Watershed <br />work. <br />29 Met with Health Department for adoption regulation <br />requiring Soils Interpretation for septic tank permits. <br />6. Committee Reports: <br />EDUCATION: <br />Prior to the regular meeting, the District Supervisors, Associate <br />Supervisors, Watershed Commissioners, District office personnel, wives <br />and others were invited to the auditorium of A. T. Allen School to hear <br />the Annual Soil and Water Speech Contest of the six final contestants <br />of the seventh grade students of the Cabarrus County Schools. Mrs. <br />Robert Bost of Bethel School presided.; -- Chairman - _Colerider was called <br />on to introduce the Supervisors, Associates, Watershed Commissioners, <br />office personnel, Chaplain and our three judges. <br />The six contestants were: (1) Beverly Plummer-Bethel School (2) Emily <br />Slyea-Winecoff School (3) Lynn Nantz-Hartsell School (4) Stacy Sides- <br />Harrisburg School (5) Thonda Souther- Mt. Pleasant School and (6) <br />Mike Walsnovich-Odell School. <br />Each speaker used topics on all phases of Soil and Water Conservation. <br />After the speeches were completed, the judges retired to make their <br />decisions of fire, second and third place winners. <br />
