Station WSOC <br />Charlotte, N. C. <br />Mr. Price and Mr. Cato showed the 1971 Conservation school tour movies <br />to the audience. <br />At this time, Mr. L. D. Coltrane, III, Supervisor, presented Dr. R. <br />Brown McAllister an engraved plaque in recognition of the outstanding <br />work he has done in the past seven years in Soil and Water Conservation <br />with the Cabarrus County School seventh grades. (1965-1972). <br />Mr. Freeman R. Jones presented the decision of the Judges and the prize <br />money given by the District Board of Supervisors to the three winning <br />contestants: <br />First Place- Mike Walsnovich-Odell School $25.00 <br />Second Place-Stacy Sides - Harrisburg School- $15.00 <br />Third Place-Emily 11yea-Winecoff School $10.00 <br />The three last contestants were awarded a prize of $5.00 for being the <br />winner of the Speech contest in their individual school, <br />Mr. Cato announced that all six contestants would, be called on to present <br />their speech on the weekly radio programs. <br />F I NFL NCJ <br />The budget for 1973 fiscal year is being studied. <br />PUBLICITY: <br />Announcement of the Speech Contest: <br />Concord Tribune February 29, 1972 <br />Daily Independent March 2, 1972 <br />VIATZ R SH3 D: <br />Mr. Price reported that Lonnie Thompson and Jack Webb visited the <br />Work Unit February 16 and 17, 1972 studying the area involved with <br />Structure 34 and evaluating the Three toile Branch. <br />7. Unfinished Business: <br />a. Soil Stewardship material will be available for ordering <br />by March 15, 1972. (Soil Stewardship Week -May 7-14, 1972). <br />b. Supervisors purchase of two local newspapers will, be discussed <br />at the April meeting. <br />
