MINUTES <br />5.7 Funds: <br />PY 96 <br />-3- <br />$60,000 <br />Allocation <br />1,617 <br />Pless Dairy Supplement <br />932 <br />Larry Mesimer <br />1,977 <br />Donald Hill, Sr. <br />3,013 <br />William Smith <br />608 <br />Adam Heglar <br />$51,853 <br />funds available <br />PY 95 $37,573 outstanding on 5 contracts <br />PY 94 $33,284 outstanding on 5 contracts <br />December 12, 1995 <br />Whit Moose reported that he had heard from Dr. Rozear, a former Cabarrus SWCD Supervisor, <br />who was interested in how the District was doing. He also reported on a constructed wetland <br />project treating animal waste in Duplin County. <br />6. WATERSHED REPORT - Matt Kinane reported that he had met with Tom Wetmore, <br />Area Conservationist. Plans have been made to develop two potential projects: <br />clearing/snagging on some of the county's southern streams and watershed planning for <br />the Coddle Creek Watershed. A multi - agency team is scheduled to look at the streams in <br />January for clearing and snagging. Arrangements are still being made to obtain <br />assistance from the NRCS State Office for Watershed Planning. The information for <br />these projects was requested by the County Commissioners. <br />7. Old Business <br />7.1 Long Range Plan - The first stages of developing our Long Range Plan was <br />begun. With good input from the District Supervisors and staff, Helen Barnes and <br />Richard Taylor led the group through the nominal group process to develop a <br />vision statement. Two statements were development. The following vision <br />statement was selected: <br />"To be the agency recognized by the public, press, and other governmental bodies <br />as the authority on conservation of our natural resources" <br />"To be recognized as the lead agency in providing Cabarrus County assistance and <br />information for improving the natural resources of the county" ran a close second. <br />Meeting adjourned a 9 / 45 p.m. <br />FRANK HERRIN, CHAIRPERSON J HN A .FOIL, SECRETARY - TREASURER <br />Next meeting: Tuesday, January 2, 1996 at the Agriculture Center. <br />
