MINUTES -2- May 6, 1997 <br />4.7 Applications for the Resource Conservation Workshop are due by May 9. Two slots <br />have been reserved for Cabarrus SWCD. <br />5. NC Agriculture Cost Share Program - Richard Taylor <br />5.1 Information /Correspondence <br />Staff conducted site survey for Harris Dairy on April 16. Currently working <br />on waste management plan for operation and will be developing ACSP contract in <br />conjunction with waste management plan for .0200 process. <br />Spot checks were conducted on April 17 with Supervisors Herrin and <br />Morrison and staff member Taylor. Eleven contracts were checked and all were <br />found to be in compliance and being maintained. <br />On April 28 Vann McGlamery called the office to request that he be <br />allowed to spray approximately 3 1/2 acres of his cropland conversation to grass <br />with roundup to kill Johnson grass, no -till plant to soybeans for hay for vegetative <br />cover during summer and no -till reseed to orchardgrass in fall. There was <br />discussion as to procedures both pros and cons for handling the Johnson grass <br />problem. One procedure mentioned was mopping the Johnson grass. The Board <br />declined Mr. McGlamery's request. <br />E -mail received from Dewey Botts dated May 2 requested that districts <br />release any funds they can to reallocate to other districts for .0200. <br />5.2 Applications <br />An application and agreement is to be prepared for Harris Dairy. <br />Staff in discussion process with Elizabeth Cook and Dr. Chalfant in conjunction with <br />possible livestock exclusion along Cold Water Creek. <br />Field office staff to meet with David Abernathy ( Cabarrus County swine producer) <br />on May 7.
