Ned Hudson said a state Soil & Water Commission meeting was held <br />recently. An allocation was approved for Community Costshare <br />Assistance Program. There is $268,000.00 less in the Agriculture <br />Costshare Program. Cabarrus County's share is $46,000.00. Mr. Hudson <br />also said the first batch of the drought applications have been worked <br />through. A conference call will be held Friday morning to determine <br />future allocations. A statewide education meeting was held today and <br />$75,000.00 has been allocated to help fund the 2009 state Envirothon <br />in Asheville, NC. Mr. Hudson stated attendees at the education dinner <br />at the annual meeting last year in Asheville, NC were charged $20.00 <br />each. This year, there will be 25 tables at $1,000.00 each. Wal-Mart <br />sponsors a program called Fund for Education, in which each store will <br />give $1,000.00 toward an educational program, and someone from the <br />education committee will be contacting Wal -Mart. Mr. Hudson reported <br />the team from North Carolina that participated in the National <br />Envirothon in Flagstaff, Arizona came in eighth overall and place <br />first in the Forestry section. There have been not other meetings <br />with the Agricultural. Advisory Board or the Agribusiness Council. <br />Dennis Testerman stated presenters have been contacted regarding <br />the Agribusiness, Environmental Science and Conservation Field Days <br />for 6 th graders. There was a general discussion among the Board <br />regarding the location of the event and the volunteers. <br />(6 -B) NCASWCD Community Conservation Committee <br />Nothing to report. <br />(6 -C) NCASWCD Legislative Committee <br />Louis Suther stated he talked with a reporter from the Concord <br />Standard newspaper regarding the present use valuation rate. There <br />was a general discussion among the Board and staff regarding this <br />issue. <br />(7) Consent Agenda <br />UPON MOTION of Louis Suther, seconded by Jeff Goforth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following: <br />(7 -A) Reports submitted by Daniel McClellan and Dennis Testerman <br />Mr. McClellan stated the North Carolina Ag-Cost Share Program <br />Records for PY08 funds are available for the Board to review. The <br />records need approval from the Board and a signature by the Chairman. <br />Mr. McClellan also submitted the following applications and <br />contracts: <br />Drought Response Applications <br />Mike Smith - Pasture Renovation <br />
