(5) New Business <br />(5 -A) NCASWCD Meeting Representation <br />Bob Ritchie, Ned Hudson, Jeff Goforth and Louis Suther will <br />attend the NCASWCD Annual Meeting in January, 2009. Jeff Goforth will <br />also attend the Leadership Initiatives meeting on January 3 before the <br />Annual Meeting begins. <br />(5 -B) NACD Meeting Representation <br />Bob Ritchie and Jeff Goforth will attend the NACD meeting in New <br />Orleans, LA in February, 2009. <br />(5 -C) Adoption of 2009 Meeting Schedule <br />Amy Griffith distributed a draft of the 2009 meeting schedule. <br />After discussion, the Board decided to cancel the January and August <br />meetings due to other conflicts. <br />(5 -D) Community Conservation Assistance Program Job Approval <br />Authority <br />UPON MOTION of Bob Ritchie, seconded by Louis Suther and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved CCAP Job Approval Authority <br />for Daniel McClellan (critical area planning, impervious surface <br />conversion, grass swells and pet waste receptacles) and Dennis <br />Testerman (critical area planning, impervious surface conversion and <br />pet waste receptacles). <br />(5 -E) FY 2009 NC Agriculture Development and Farmland Protection <br />Trust Fund Grant Process and Proposals <br />Dennis Testerman attended a regional workshop in Statesville, NC <br />regarding land protection and easements. Applications for these <br />grants are now limited to three per applicant and applications are due <br />December 14, 2008. Mr. Testerman has spoken with Jonathan Marshall <br />regarding local matching money, which has been earmarked for the <br />incubator farm. Mr. Testerman also said that the Land Trust is <br />requesting that the District submit the Barrier Farm application the <br />Land Trust submitted last year. There was a general discussion among <br />the Board and staff regarding the grant process, the grant money <br />Cabarrus County received last year and protecting working farms. <br />(5 -F) FY 2008 Budget - Capital Improvement Plan Recfuests for <br />Protection of Farmland and Significant Natural Heritage Areas <br />Dennis Testerman distributed a copy of a 2007 memo to the board <br />concerning conservation easement priorities.
