Lippard, Jr. and his sister, <br /> Edna Mae Lippard Stokes, donated land to Cabarrus County <br /> for the purpose of a senior center as a living memorial <br /> to Myrtle Lee Lefler Barnes and husband, George Avery <br /> Barnes; and <br /> the donation of this land symbolized the love and <br /> loyalty of the Lippard family for their heritage in <br /> Cabarrus County, and demonstrated their care and concern <br /> for the happiness and future well-being of the seniors <br /> of the county; and <br /> a ceremony has been planned for May 10, 1994 at the <br /> Senior Center for the dedication of a permanent plaque <br /> to memorialize the generous donation by the Lippard <br /> family to Cabarrus County. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners hereby proclaims May 10, 1994 as "Lippard Day in <br />Cabarrus County", so that we may express our appreciation to the <br />Lippard family for their generosity, and to honor them permanently <br />in the records of this great County. <br /> Adopted this the 2nd day of May, 1994. <br /> <br />/s/ Jeffrey L. Barnhart <br />Chairman, Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Food Service Bid Award - Department of Aging Nutrition Program for the Elderly <br /> <br /> Ms. Eleanor Koski, Director of Aging, reported that one bid was received <br />on April 12, 1994, to provide meals for the Fiscal Year 1994-95 congregate <br />nutrition program. She recommended that the Board award the food service <br />contract to the sole bidder, Servicemaster Education Food Management, in the <br />amount of $2.170 (net bid per meal). Approximately 56,000 meals will be served <br />during the next fiscal year. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the contract to provide meals for the <br />congregate nutrition program to the sole bidder, Servicemaster Education Food <br />Management, in the amount of $2.170 (net bid per meal) for the period beginning <br />July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1995. <br /> <br /> <br />
