<br />~ppointment of Local Task Force for the Intervention/Prevention Grant for
<br />Kannapolis City Schools
<br />
<br /> Mr. Chip Buckwell, Director of Student Services for the Kannapolis City
<br />Schools, requested the appointment of a Local Task Force for the development of
<br />an Intervention/Prevention Grant for the Schools. He stated the grant funds will
<br />be used to expand the Safe Schools program in the Kannapolis City Schools.
<br />
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Payne and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed the following persons to the Local Task
<br />Forcefor the Intervention/Prevention Grant for Kannapolis City Schools.

<br />Telephone Lease Agreement for the Home Health Agency
<br />
<br /> Ms. Lila Fister, Home Health Agency Director, received two telephone system
<br />proposals for Home Health~s new office: Northern Telecom NORSTARby DIGITEL USA
<br />(Atlanta, GA) $1,023.89 per month; and Comdial Impact DXP by the Concord
<br />Telephone Company - $824.60 per month. These proposals were reviewed by Mr.
<br />Harry D. Barnes, President of Barnes & Associates, Inc., who recommended the
<br />Comdial Impact DXP system.

<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the Lease Agreement between the Concord
<br />Telephone Company and the Cabarrus County Home Health Agency for a period of 60
<br />months at a cost of $824.60 per month, or a total Lease price of $49,476.00, for
<br />the following equipment.

<br />Appointments Water and Sewer Authority (2)
<br />
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Chairman Barnhart and Commissioner
<br />Payne to the Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors for a term of three
<br />years ending in June, 1997.
<br />
<br />Joint Meeting with the Concord Board of Aldermen
<br />
<br /> Chairman Barnhart welcomed the members of the Concord Board of Aldermen to
<br />the meeting. Those present included Dr. George Liles, Mayor, and Aldermen James
<br />Dorton, Alfred Brown, Hector Henry, Lamar Barrier, Robert Mathis, and Bill Cone.
<br />Also present were Mr. Leonard Sossamon, Concord City Manager; Mr. Gordon Belo,
<br />Attorney; Ms. Vickie Weant, City Clerk; Ms. Joyce Allman, Finance Director; and
<br />Mr. Tim Lowder, Director of Engineering and Water Resources.

<br /> Mr. Witherspoon reviewed the status of the Coddle Creek Reservoir project.
