361 <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Department of Social Services - Acceptance of the Cannon Foundation Grant and <br />Approval of Budget Amendment <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart announced that the County has been awarded a Cannon <br />Foundation grant in the amount of $50,000.00 for the Department of Social <br />Services Automated Single Appltcation Project. Matching funds of $50,000.00 will <br />be provided through savings identified within the Department's current budget. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the $50,000.00 grant from the Cannon <br />Foundation for the Department of Social Services Automated Single Application <br />Project and authorized the Chairman to execute the acceptance of the grant terms <br />and conditions as set forth in a letter dated March 7, 1995 to Chairman Barnhart <br />from Mr. Dan Gray, Executive Director of the Cannon Foundation. Also, the Board <br />approved the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />AMOUNT: $100,000 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Budgets cannon Foundation Grant and matching funds. <br /> <br /> Present Approved <br />Account No. Budget Increase Decrease <br /> <br />Revised <br />Budget <br /> <br />01-9-56-10-445 $52,363.00 <br />Purchased Services <br />01-6-56-10-253 21,648.21 <br />Title IV-A Child Welfare <br />01-6-56-10-806 0.00 <br />Donations - Cannon Trusts <br /> <br />$100,000.00 <br /> 50,000.00 <br /> 50,000.00 <br /> <br />$152,363.00 <br /> 71,648.21 <br /> 50,000.00 <br /> <br />Resolution Admitting the Town of Harrisburg into the KANLACON Urban Area <br />Metropolitan Planning Organization - Ms. Sarah LaBelle <br /> <br /> Ms. Sarah LaBelle, Transportation Planner, presented the proposed <br />Resolution to admit the Town of Harrisburg into the KANLACON Urban Area <br />Metropolitan Planning Organization. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolution Passed by <br />The COunty Commissioners of the County of <br /> Cabarrus, North Carolina <br /> <br /> The following resolution was offered by Chairman Barnhart and <br />seconded by Commissioner Casper and upon being put to a vote was <br />carried unanimously on the 20th day of March, 1995.: <br /> THAT WHEREAS, it is recognized that the proper movement of <br />travel within and through the Kannapolis-Concord urban area is a <br />highly desirable element of a comprehensive plan for the orderly <br />growth and development of the area; and <br /> WHEREAS, there are a number of governmental jurisdictions <br />within the Kannapolis-Concord urban area which have been authorized <br />implementation and regulatory responsibilities for transportation by <br />North Carolina General Statutes; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable that a coordinated, comprehensive and <br />cooperative transportation planning process be maintained in the <br />Kannapolis-Concord urban area to insure that the transportation <br />system is maintained on a efficient and economical basis <br />commensurate with the public health, safety, and welfare; and <br /> WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of <br />Kannapolis, City of Concord, Town of China Grove, Town of Landis, <br />Town of Harrisburg, Cabarrus County, Rowan County, and North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation has been prepared that sets <br /> <br /> <br />
