J. Widelski (Husband of <br />Kathy Widelski, Social Services Attorney); Quentarius Brown (Transportation); <br />James Sasser (Transportation); Cathy Cole (Geographic Information System); <br />Ashley Johnson (Department of Social Services) ; Blondell Joseph <br />(Transportation); and Marguerite Ford (Transportation). <br /> <br />(C-2) Recognition of the 5th Anniversary of Concord Mills <br /> <br />Commissioner Carpenter read a Proclamation congratulating Concord Mills <br />on its 5th anniversary. On behalf of the Board, she presented the following <br />proclamation to Sharon Campbell, Marketing Director for Concord Mills. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Mills Corporation opened a 1.4 million-square-foot mall known as <br />Concord Mills in the fall of 1999 bringing the latest retail trend ushopper- <br />tainment" to Cabarrus County, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Concord Mills attracted 15.3 <br />recently named the Number 1 tourist <br />Carolina, and <br /> <br />million visitors last year <br />attraction in the state <br /> <br />and was <br />of North <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Concord Mills <br />contributes to Cabarrus <br />million, and <br /> <br />provides <br />County's <br /> <br />jobs for 3,500 year-round workers and <br />growing tourism payroll of more than $53 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Concord Mills annually contributes more than $20 million toward <br />state, county and city sales tax revenue, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Concord Mills has prompted the development of additional outparcel <br />retail outlets, hotels, restaurants, business services and housing, which has <br />strengthened the County's tax base and increased the area's vitality. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners hereby congratulates Concord Mills on the celebration of its 5th <br />anniversary and extends best wishes for its continued success. <br /> <br />Adopted this 15th day of November, 2004. <br />/s/ Robert M.
