<br />April 17, 2006 - Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />560 <br /> <br />(C-2) Proclamation - Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services Week (May 14 <br />- 20, 2006) <br /> <br />On behalf of the Board, Vice Chairman Juba presented the following <br />proclamation to David Hampton, Emergency Medical Services Director: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006-05 <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />emergency medical services is a vital public service; and <br /> <br />the members of emergency medical services teams <br />provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours <br />days a week; and <br /> <br />are ready to <br />a day 1 seven <br /> <br />access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the <br />survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness <br />or injury; and <br /> <br />emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, <br />emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, <br />firefighters, educators, administrators, and others; and <br />approximately two-thirds of all emergency medical services <br />providers are volunteers; and <br /> <br />the members of <br />or volunteer I <br />training and <br />skills; and <br /> <br />medical services teams, whether career <br />thousands of hours of specialized <br />education enhance their lifesaving <br /> <br />emergency <br />engage in <br />continuing <br /> <br />Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these <br />highly trained individuals; and <br /> <br />it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments <br />of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency <br />Medical Services Week; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of <br />May 14 - 20, 2006, as <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> <br />This 17th day April, 2006. <br /> <br />/s/ Robert W. Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />Board Members expressed appreciation to the Emergency Medical Services <br />personnel for their efforts to save lives. <br /> <br />Mr. Hampton thanked Board Members for their continued support and <br />reported Cabarrus County is a model system, one of only eight in the State. <br />He also commented on the training of all County employees in CPR (Cardiac <br />Pulmonary Resuscitation) and the use of Automatic External Defibrillators <br />(ABD) . <br /> <br />(C-3) Recognition of Cabarrus County Transportation Services (CCTS) <br /> <br />Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager, stated CCTS staff members make <br />safety their number one goal in transporting County citizens to various <br />appointments. Their efforts this past year resulted in a 60 percent reduction <br />in the cost of insurance for the transportation vehicles.
