College of Agriculture and Life Science
Personnel office
MEMORANDUM sox 7917
Raleigh NC 27695 -7917
919.515.1382 (phone)
919.513.2617 (fax)
TO: County Extension Directors
FROM: Sheri Schwab, Associate Director NCCES and Director of County Operations
Nikki Kurdys, Personnel Coordinator`
DATE: November 16, 2015
RE: Legislative Lump Sum Bonus
The Legislature has directed the payment of a one -time lump sum bonus of $750 to all State
permanent employees. Please note the following details:
• The one -time lump sum $750 bonus is to be effective in the month of December 2015.
• All COSS permanent and probationary employees and all EHRA (EPA) employees
who were employed as of November 1, 2015 will receive the bonus.
• The bonus is pro -rated based on FTE. For example, somebody working .75 FTE will
receive $562.50
• The bonus does not apply to employees separated prior to November 1, 2015 or hired
effective November 2, 2015 or later.
• Employees on Leave of Absence effective November 1, 2015, paid or unpaid, will
receive the bonus.
• Employees will receive the bonus regardless of performance ratings or disciplinary
actions.
• The bonus will not be subject to retirement but is subject to all other taxes.
The Legislature has agreed to fund this bonus for all employees paid by the State. Given our
unique funding arrangement with the counties, NCSU Extension Administration has agreed to
pay the county portion of this bonus for employees that have NCSU funding on their
positions.
Employees paid 100% from County funds via the NCSU payroll will not receive the bonus as
there was no State funding provided for such a bonus. Additionally, employees who are paid
via NC A &T funds through the NCSU payroll will only receive the bonus based on NC
A &T's portion of their salary. For example, an employee funded 50% from NC A &T will
receive $375.
If counties wish to match this bonus or pay bonuses for 100% County paid employees they
can do so by submitting a County Salary Change and Budget Sheet by the December
deadline. Please work with your District offices on meeting the deadline.
F -2 Page 48
