CABARRUS COUNTY <br />A <br />* <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 2016 <br />i �'y�J,rJJl� ll <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />County Manager - NCDOT Purchase of Right -of -Way at Winecoff <br />Elementary School <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />NCDOT (North Carolina Department of Transportation) has worked with <br />the County and Cabarrus County Schools on the purchase of a right -of- <br />way, drainage easement and construction easement at Winecoff <br />Elementary School. The permanent right -of -way (.265 acres), temporary <br />drainage easement (.228 acres) and temporary construction easement <br />(1.975 acres) are necessary for improvements related to the widening of I- <br />85. <br />The total offer is $129,325.00. It has been the County's practice when <br />approving this type of purchase to also approve a budget amendment <br />such that the proceeds benefit the affected school. A Cabarrus County <br />Schools representative will be present at the work session to discuss the <br />intended use of those funds for maintenance and improvement projects at <br />Winecoff. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the acquisition of right -of -way and easements at <br />Winecoff Elementary School per the terms of the Summary <br />Statement/Contingent Offer. <br />Motion to approve the budget amendment designating the proceeds of the <br />sale to the benefit of Winecoff Elementary School. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />F -2 Page 50 <br />
