SAFETY FUNCTIONS ACTION PLAN <br />This plan lists the actions a system can use in developing and carrying out a safety and <br />emergency response program. When all aspects are implemented, the action plan can help a <br />system to address emergency and fire prevention requirements that will protect people, property <br />and the environment. <br />Safety Functions of Facilities Manager <br />• Provide training to all employees for their roles in all safety and emergency plans <br />• Conduct quarterly drills to exercise the emergency response plans <br />• Annually conduct emergency rescue from confined space drill <br />• Conduct all other actions required in the system safety plan to implement, develop and <br />maintain an effective Emergency Response Plan <br />Safety Functions of the Maintenance Manager <br />• Ensure maintenance personnel are trained in the proper procedures for chemical handling and <br />storage procedures, potential ignition sources (such as boilers, gas fired equipOment, <br />welding, etc.) and their control procedures, and the type of fire protection equipment or <br />systems installed to prevent or control ignitions or fires. <br />• Ensure that personnel are properly trained and equipped to carry out safety and emergency <br />plans. <br />• Express responsibility for the maintenance for the maintenance of equipment and systems <br />installed to prevent or control ignitions or fires. The manager is also responsible for the <br />control of fuel source hazards. The manager should have written maintenance procedures <br />available in the Maintenance Office. <br />Overall System Fire Prevention Functions <br />• The entire facility should be protected by an automatic water sprinkler system. <br />Inspection and maintenance procedures are maintained by the maintenance manager. <br />• If smoking is permitted, designated smoking areas are established and regulations are <br />located on bulletin boards throughout the facility. <br />• If welding and hot work are done at the system facility, a fire prevention plan for welding <br />and hot work should be included in the system safety program. <br />• The alarm systems are maintained by the Maintenance Department.
