SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES — SPECIFIC POSITIONS <br />Agency Administrator /County Manager <br />Under the direction of the Agency Administrator /County Manager there is: <br />• An active Safety Committee, consisting of department heads and other designated <br />persons, meeting on a scheduled basis. <br />• A thorough and effective Accident Investigation to include reporting and recording <br />procedure, and a written report on actions taken to prevent recurrence of accidents, <br />including action taken against individual violators of safety rules and practices. <br />• A training program for employees and supervisory personnel directly related to <br />avoiding a possible injury or illness in the area of assigned operations. <br />• A periodic audit of all premises, equipment, and, materials so that recommendations <br />can be developed to obtain compliance with established standards. <br />• A communications system established and maintained to ensure that all personnel <br />responsible for safety matters are kept abreast of new standards or procedures <br />published by the Department of Labor. <br />• Specific goals established for the safety program, with progress toward those goals <br />measured on a monthly basis. Copies of monthly progress reports are forwarded to <br />the Administrator /Director. <br />The seven steps to achieving your safety policy are accomplished through: <br />• A Safety Manual <br />• A Safety Coordinator /Officer <br />• A Safety Committee <br />• Employee Training and Supervision <br />• Employee Safety Meetings <br />• Accident Investigation <br />• Departmental Self - Inspection <br />Management <br />Management will demonstrate support for the safety program through every visible means, <br />including: <br />• Providing a safe and healthful work place. <br />• Providing personal protective equipment as well as machine guards and safety <br />devices commensurate with the state of the art. <br />• Reviewing accident records and accomplishments of the safety program with the <br />Safety Committee. <br />• Evaluating effectiveness of the safety program. <br />• Participating directly and /or indirectly in safety activities as may be required to <br />maintain the enthusiasm and interest off all concerned. <br />• Abiding by Safety rules and regulations when exposed to conditions governed by <br />the rules. <br />• Directing that any flagrant disregard of safety rules and regulations by employees <br />be grounds for dismissal as outlined in Personnel Policy. <br />Responsibility <br />04/25/16 PDFConvert. 10733. 1.
