Supervisors <br />Supervisors are the key persons in the scheme of loss control because of the close relationship <br />with the employee and intimate knowledge of operating procedures. <br />Supervisors of each department are charged with the responsibilities of quality and quantity of <br />production within the department, and therefore are responsible for the work conduct of same. <br />Supervisors should be afforded the necessary tools and knowledge to carry out their duties with <br />efficiency and safety. <br />Supervisors should: <br />• Have a thorough knowledge of System Safety Policy. <br />• Provide instruction and training to workers so that they conduct their job in a safe <br />manner. [(See section on Training New Employees)] <br />• Make daily inspections of the department to ensure that no unsafe conditions or <br />unsafe practices exist. <br />• Initiate immediate corrective action where unsafe conditions or practices are found. <br />When a capital expenditure is required to make necessary corrections, a written <br />report shall be submitted to the Agency Administrator /County Manager and the <br />Safety Coordinator. <br />• Properly complete accident reports and investigate all accidents to determine what <br />must be done to prevent recurrence of a similar accident. <br />• Be familiar with procedures that must be followed in case of an emergency. <br />• Enforce safety rules and regulations of the organization. <br />• Set a good example for safety by working in a safe manner and encouraging others <br />to do so. <br />Employees <br />To assist the employee in developing keen "safety awareness" the following responsibilities are <br />assigned: <br />• To abide by the safety rules and regulations of the organization. <br />• To regard the safety of fellow workers at all times. <br />• To report any unsafe condition to the Supervisor. <br />• To contribute ideas and suggestions for improving the safety of conditions or <br />procedures to the Supervisor. <br />• To use individual knowledge and influence to prevent accidents. <br />• To attend safety training sessions. <br />• To report accidents and injuries immediately. <br />04/25/16 PDFConvert. 10733. 1.
