Cabarrus County Public Library
June 2017
W Provide outreach focused on
Bilingual Library Assistant,
June 10, 2017
Summer Reading to relevant
Library staff
agencies
■ Host a celebratory event for
CLC, Literacy Coordinator,
July 1, 2017
Tutors and literacy students,
Bilingual Library Assistant
including group classes, at the
library
b. EVALUATION
a. How will you document the "outputs," or countable products of the grant? Before and
after data is important to accurately measure and report effectiveness.
Currently, data is kept on all general project areas by library staff, which would be categorized
further into Spanish service areas supported by the grant (program numbers, program attendance,
circulation, outreach events, etc.). The Bilingual Library Assistant would maintain statistics directly
related to the project.
Information on literacy students, tutors, and classes is also currently on- going, and will continue
throughout the project year. This includes number of group classes serving ESOL /LEP students,
individual ESOL /LEP students, number of tutors, ratio of tutors to students, and availability of materials,
all maintained by the Literacy Coordinator.
Data will be analyzed both halfway through the project timeline and the end of the project year
to ensure on -going efforts are made to meet the needs of the Hispanic community. A Patron Satisfaction
Survey will also be offered in Spanish at the beginning and end of the project to evaluate outcome-
based measures.
b. How will you illustrate whether the project reached or moved toward the intended
outcomes? How will you document the changes brought about, in part, as a result of the
project in the target audience's behavior, attitudes, skills, knowledge, status, or life
condition?
Along with the annual patron satisfaction survey being offered in Spanish for the first time, CCPL
is an active participant in Project Outcome through the Public Library Association. Project Outcome
currently offers a variety of resources CCPL would utilize throughout the course of this project, including
training for staff responsible for collecting and maintaining data, case studies, and impact surveys that
can be translated into Spanish and issued at many different points on the project timeline.
Due to established ESOL /LEP classes for Spanish speakers, library administration also intends to
form focus groups with each set of students to assess and record their knowledge and use of library
EZ Literacy & Lifelong LeA ffi i,§ number 1 In
G -4 Page 229
