Student <br />growth will also continue to be measured, and expanded to include three assessment points during the <br />student's involvement with literacy programs, and will include reports on improved vocabulary, written <br />comprehension, and level of English fluency. <br />7. GOALS <br />Provide 1 -2 sentences that explain how the proposed project supports your library's <br />mission and goals. <br />Through the recently updated five -year plan, the Board of Library Trustees adopted several <br />goals, objectives, and activities designed to diversify library services; as related to the project, these <br />include: <br />• Provide access to materials in formats appropriate to the needs and interests of the <br />community (Objective 1.1) <br />• Provide programs and events that appeal to underrepresented and underserved groups <br />(Objective 2.3) <br />The library's mission states that CCPL "provides for the cultural, educational, and recreational <br />needs of all County citizens" by providing access to a variety of materials in a way that meets and <br />exemplifies the diverse needs of those we serve. <br />b. Provide 1 -2 sentences that explain 'how the proposed project supports Goal #3 of North <br />Carolina's LSTA Five -Year Plan, which states: "North Carolina libraries will equip users for <br />success in life, school, and work through library programs and services that support <br />literacy and lifelong learning." <br />This project will equip Cabarrus County's Hispanic and Latino communities with the ability to <br />discover information through services provided in Spanish, increased ESOL /LEP learning opportunities, <br />and add additional services that support literacy and lifelong learning in welcoming and inclusive <br />environment. <br />EZ Literacy & Lifelong LearAfthront number 1 In <br />G -4 Page 230 <br />
