1742 <br />6. t <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE <br />CABARRUS COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH ADVISORY BOARD <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is concerned with the mental health, safety and welfare <br />of citizens throughout Cabarrus County, and is especially interested in early intervention efforts; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners adopted a proclamation on September 19, 2016 in <br />support of Stepping Up, an initiative that aims to reduce the mentally ill population within jails <br />across the country; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to establish a Mental Health Advisory Board <br />(Task Force) to serve as a resource for determining early intervention efforts, assessing available <br />mental health resources, and evaluating the criminal justice system and county jail for <br />improvements in relation to their clients who suffer from mental illness; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />establishes the Cabarrus County Mental Health Advisory Board (Task Force), providing for a 25- <br />member board with staggered terms among its initial membership and awaiting approval of its <br />bylaws at a later date. <br />Adopted this 17th day of October, 2016. <br />Stephen M.
