WHEREAS, Kannapolis City Schools estimates the financial impact on their <br /> district to include the addition of 8-10 mobile units at $99,000 per unit as well as <br /> the addition of 10-12 teachers at an approximate local cost of $60,000 for teacher <br /> supplements; and <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Schools estimates the financial impact on their <br /> district to include the addition of 88 mobile units at$99,000 per unit as well as the <br /> addition of 104 teachers at an approximate local cost of $312,000 for teacher <br /> supplements; and <br /> WHEREAS, The long-term educational goals of Cabarrus County students can be <br /> reinforced by supporting HB12 and detrimental financial impacts to the school <br /> districts and the County can be avoided by supporting HB13; <br /> WHEREAS, HB12 reinforces support for the attainment of higher education <br /> among Cabarrus County students,and the passing of HB13 is integral to providing <br /> flexibility for school districts while avoiding severe financial impacts based on <br /> class size restrictions; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br /> Commissioners: <br /> 1. Supports the passing of HB12 and the option for school districts to align <br /> their schedules with the community college; and <br /> 2. Supports the passing of HB13 and the option for flexibility in class size <br /> requirements; and <br /> 3. Petitions the support of their local delegation to the North Carolina General <br /> Assembly regarding HB12 and HB13, recognizing the future and financial <br /> impacts on Cabarrus County, its school districts, citizens and students. <br /> Adopted this 19th day of December, 2016. <br /> Stephen M.
