11. Payment will not be authorized for heating or cooling expenses during the Crisis <br /> Intervention Program season from 200% funds unless household does not meet <br /> guidelines for Crisis Intervention Program. 200% funds can be authorized when <br /> natural gas is used as a cooking source when Crisis Intervention Program funds <br /> are unavailable. (Household must meet guidelines of 200%program) <br /> VII. Exemption from the Work Requirement <br /> The following exemptions from the work requirement will be in place: <br /> • The parent of a newborn child will be exempted for 12 months. If they desire, they <br /> will be allowed to give up this exemption and participate. A recipient has a total <br /> lifetime limit of 12 months. <br /> OPTIONAL PLAN ELEMENTS <br /> VIII. Innovative County Strategies <br /> Benefit Diversion <br /> Work First applicants, after being assessed by a Family Support Specialist, may qualify <br /> and be given the opportunity to apply for Benefit Diversion which is a one-time cash <br /> payment up to and not exceeding $1200. The Family Support Specialist will determine <br /> through careful assessment of the situation which is the best option for the Work First <br /> applicant, Benefit Diversion or ongoing cash assistance. In order to qualify for Benefit <br /> Diversion an applicant must have expenses that they are responsible for paying such as <br /> rent, utilities, car payment, or car insurance. This is a short term assist and the recipient <br /> must be able to maintain the household after the Benefit Diversion payment is received. <br /> Upon obtaining successful employment approved and verified by the Family Support <br /> Specialist, the benefit diversion one-time cash payment up to but not exceeding $1200 <br /> may be provided to allow the recipient to maintain self-sufficiency from the employment. <br /> Benefit Diversion can only be received once in a 12-month period. <br /> The following expenses can be paid from Benefit Diversion funds: <br /> • Car repairs (must be employment related) <br /> • Car insurance (must be employment related) <br /> • Car payments (must be employment related) <br /> • Registration Fees for Daycare (must be a licensed daycare and employment <br /> related) <br /> • Uniforms and/or tools when necessary for employment (must be employment <br /> related) <br /> • Rent <br /> • Utilities (water, electric, gas) except for returned check charges and/or <br /> tampering fess <br /> • Any other requests must have the approval of the Adult and Aging Services <br /> Program Administrator and/or Director. <br /> The following expenses will not be paid from Benefit Diversion funds: <br /> • Returned check charges and/or tampering fees from utilities <br /> Page 18119 <br /> Attachment number 1 \n <br /> F-7 Page 91 <br />
