504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, or where the Secretary has <br />issued a charge under the Fair Housing Act regarding assisted <br />housing with a recipient's jurisdiction, an analysis of the actions <br />which could have been taken by the recipient to help remedy the <br />discriminatory condition, including actions involving the <br />expenditure of funds by the jurisdiction. <br />None found at this time. <br />vi. Assessment of Current Public and Private Fair Housing <br />Programs and Activities in the Jurisdiction. <br />A. Public Fair Housing Activities <br />Identify all resources available for the promotion of fair housing and equal <br />opportunity. Cabarrus County has used the following media to advertise the <br />programs: The Independent Tribune newspaper (circulating 3 times a week), the <br />local cable access channel, the Cabarrus County Website, local radio stations, and <br />Fair Housing materials obtained from the NC Human Relations Commission <br />which are posted in government offices and local libraries located in Concord, <br />Mount Pleasant, and Harrisburg. Information on fair housing is provided at any <br />site where Community Development Staff makes presentations, the local <br />agricultural fair, senior health and wellness days, through Human Services, and <br />other outreach activities. Finally, local governments and nonprofits have <br />provided workshops on fair housing topics separately and jointly over the years. <br />Cabarrus County offers advertising on the local access cable channel to our <br />partner nonprofit agencies for their fair housing events. <br />B. How are citizens made aware of these activities? Fair Housing posters and <br />pamphlets are posted in government offices and libraries. Fair Housing programs <br />are advertised on a local radio station, the local cable access, the Cabarrus County <br />Website, and in the local newspaper (Independent Tribune) and at speaking <br />engagements by Community Development Staff. <br />C. List all such activities during the past two years. What were the results of <br />these activities? Public notices /news stories have been run in the Independent <br />Tribune for the HOME program requirements. These advertisements described <br />the rights of protected persons from discrimination in Fair Housing. Pamphlets <br />and posters pertaining to Fair Housing in English and Spanish are posted at the <br />Cabarrus County Planning and Development Office, Cabarrus County Human <br />Services Office, and in the libraries located in Concord, Mount Pleasant, and <br />Harrisburg. Additionally, Prosperity Unlimited, a CHDO, addresses Fair Housing <br />in their homeownership programs. Radio advertisements were run on a local radio <br />station and cable advertisements were run on local cable access.
