[!] :� -Liff <br />RADIO SYSTEM ADVISORY COUNCILBY AND AMONG THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE, <br />MECKLENBURG COUNTY AND OTHER USERS OF THE REGIONAL RADIO SYSTEM <br />WHEREAS, the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County jointly developed an 800 MHz <br />trunked radio system to support public safety needs and provide service to various city and <br />county departments; <br />WHEREAS, Charlotte has been designated the lead agency for regional communications <br />interoperability of public safety agencies within the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) <br />eleven county region, and has established the infrastructure necessary for regional voice <br />communications interoperability with the support of several grants; <br />WHEREAS, since 2003, other local government entities have joined Charlotte and <br />Mecklenburg in sharing use of the regional components of the radio system (the "Regional Radio <br />System, ") and have signed service agreements to that effect; <br />WHEREAS, Mecklenburg County and the other users of the Regional Radio System now <br />desire toexpand use of the Regional Radio System throughout the region, with the goal of <br />enhancing and improving interoperability of public safety communications between and among <br />government entities; <br />WHEREAS, to facilitate regionalism and interoperability, Mecklenburg and other users of <br />the Radio System wish to participate in a Regional Radio Advisory Councilthat will: (a) guide <br />the strategic growth and development of the Regional Radio System; (b) establish regional <br />performance and technical standards for the Regional Radio System, and (c) establish <br />interoperability processes and procedures; <br />Attachment number 5 <br />F -5 Page 100 <br />
